DB2 DBA

We are currently recruiting for a three to six month contract DB2 DBA position with a Chicago-based client of ours who is dedicated to improving the nation’s healthcare delivery system and who will give you exposure to multiple technologies. This is truly an exciting opportunity in a great company.

 

The required skills for this position include:

5+ years experience with DB2 Administration in an OS/390 (z/OS) environment with most on DB2 Ver8 or higher.
• Experienced in DCL, DDL, DML, JCL and utilities (both z/OS and DB2), creation, debugging and tuning.
• Excellent analytical, problem solving and trouble shooting skills related to OS/390 (z/OS) development, operations and support.
• Experience using the IBM DB2 system tables not just 3rd party software.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills to be able to work with a variety of users and cross functional teams.
• Proven initiative, ability to work with minimal supervision and adhere to schedules.
• Since this is an operational support role, candidates must be flexible to accept schedule tasks or on short notice for completion after normal business hours or weekends.It would be a definite plus if the candidate also has:

  Some experience with one or more performance monitoring products.
• Some experience with one or more change management products.
• Some programming experience preferably COBOL.
• Some experience with DB/2 connect
• Some experience with WebSphere Application Services
• Some experience with WebSphere MQ
• Some experience with CLISTs, REXX or Assembler (BAL).
• Some experience with NDM/Connect:Direct
• Some experience with File-Aid, Expediter, CICS and IMS.
