Requirements:

 

■ Monitoring/testing/maintaining of Data Center Infrastructure (DCI)

■ Solid theoretical knowledge and practical experience in the following areas:

  * electrical systems (breakers, buses, switches etc)

  * the NEC

 

 

Systems:

 

■ Electrical systems (switch gear, automatic transfer switches, static switches, UPS systems, transformers, Generators)

■ Mechanical systems (CRACs, chillers, pumps)

■ Fire detection/extinguishing system (early detection systems, clean agent systems, sprinkler systems)

    ■ Communication with vendors

    ■ Coordination of test and maintenance of systems/components

 

Knowledge/experience in the following areas is a must:

 

■ Cooling systems in general

    ■ Chilled water systems (chillers, CRACs w/ chilled water)

    ■ Fire detection/extinguishing systems

■ Reliability and accuracy as well as analytical ability to analyze problems

    ■ Good communication skills

■ Flexible work hours

    ■ Willingness to perform on-call duties

    ■ Willingness and capability to learn and stay up-to-date

    ■ Willingness to work self-dependently and to coordinate

    ■ Team player

The data center infrastructure in Lenexa is a sophisticated system of components which need to be monitored on a regular and scheduled basis. Operational parameters need to be checked and adjusted to reflect a continuously changing environment. Regular maintenance is required for most parts of our systems and needs to be done independently or in coordination with manufacturers and contractors. Equipment failures need to be addressed instantly to verify redundancy systems are taking over as expected. The failed device needs to be checked, repaired and put back into service as soon as possible. A close contact is kept with vendors and suppliers to keep all systems in good shape.
