Data Production Analyst II

 

Perform the extraction, transfer and load processes defined for data sets through a production system using various types of automated and manual processes. 

Duties include:
- Monitor daily production jobs to ensure successful completion. 
- Identify and report layout changes to ETL team for development needs, escalating appropriately to maintain currency metrics.
- Maintain Currency and Quality metrics set on annual basis.

Perform independent and detailed data quality analysis on current or new processes. Duties include:
- Perform standard quality processes as part of daily processing of data sets.
- Review transformation statistics and load process logs to verify the success of data processing.
- Research and identify processing rejections and handle them based on predefined rules by Data Insight. Identify outliers to the rules and work with Data Insight and Data Production Team Leads to decide on new handling rules.
- Understand and provide detailed documentation trends in data quality.
- Provide feedback regarding quality and quality trends to Data Insight Team.  Work with Data Insight and Data Production Team Leads when quality issues arise to determine the course of action.
- Participate in analysis of issues and give recommendations to ensure that the highest level of data quality is presented.
- Partner with the ETL team and Data Production Analyst III to document clear specifications on issues where problem resolution leads to enhancements to various systems and ensure that the changes are appropriately resolved in production.

Works under Project Leads to prepare specifications, user requirements for data related projects as it relates to tracking, automation and improvements to existing systems.
- Develops an understanding of data productions workflow process and recommends how/where to make suitable changes or process improvements .
- Participates in design and implementation of process automation.

Creates and maintains documentation related to data build processes and other assigned tasks.
- Maintain, update and review all documentation necessary to support the data load processes.
- Maintains detailed information regarding currency and quality of data processed as well as issues that have arisen along with resolution steps.
- Compiles metrics related to currency and quality for management reporting.

- Experience working in a production environment  where the analyst has a track record of automating file or database processes on multiple platforms.
- Ability to work within text-based terminal sessions with mainframe and Unix systems.
- Ability to develop and implement database scripts to perform daily processes.
- Knowledge of relational databases and methods for efficiently retrieving data from them.
- Use data tools such as Informatica and Sync-Sort, Data Junction, Test Director and Bugzilla in Microsoft 2003, Linux and Unix environments in daily processing.
- Experience using SQL required.
- Experience working with XML, Java, C++, Pearl Scripting
- At least 3 years professional experience in a data production environment or similar role.
- Ability to manage simultaneous projects and production problems.
- Ability to work as a part of and/or lead a problem solving team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
