Director for Business Intelligence, Content

We are looking to hire an experienced IT leader with a demonstrated track record in process design, architecture, and program planning to develop and drive the IT strategy for our Content business function. With a library of over 100,000 DVD titles, and growing, we need someone who has experience developing automation solutions for a fast paced, dynamic supply chain function. The role will involve partnering with the Content Operations team to reengineer our supply chain business process, collaboratively develop a technology architecture to support that process, and translate that into a project roadmap that meets the near term and long term IT needs of the Content organization.




Major Responsibilities – Build a Business Intelligence Team to support the tools and analytic needs of the Content organization:

• Work with the Content team to define the business process for Content Operations
• Define the systems and application architecture(s) for Content Operations
• Gap assessment of current technologies, tools, and systems – define technology roadmap, delivery strategy, milestone based schedule for transformation
• Quickly ideate and prototype new systems, functions, and services that can be leveraged in the short term in order to keep the business moving forward
• Develop a strategy and architecture for a reporting console leveraging industry standard tools with support for interactive analysis – prototype executive/operational reporting using consolidated data metrics.
• Facilitate cross-functional team meetings, manage the agenda and outcome of action items, and insure initiatives accomplish stated objectives.
• Participate in Content strategic and tactical planning.
• Drive prioritization of initiatives and resource allocation in order to meet competing demands from all functional areas of Content.
• Train and educate team members on the latest analytical tools, development approaches, and application architectures


Critical Competencies for Success

The successful candidate will have 10 plus years experience in the following:

• Driving information-driven strategies
• Quantitative based decision making and process reengineering
• Management Information Systems development including integrating data across all functions of a complex business model
• Understanding and experience in designing and operating a data warehousing environment including ETL platforms and BI tools platforms
• A strong team coaching mentality and leadership ability with an inclusive management style
• Leveraging emerging technologies, techniques for rapid development and rapid deployment, and services based architectures
• Experience leading development of, and transition to, loosely coupled applications
• Data architecture, modeling and data design (logical and physical)
• Strong ability to think strategically with quantitative and analytical skills.
• Ability to partner with multiple business functions and work in cross functional teams - Experience from a top tier consulting firm would be a plus
• Ability to break down complex problems and drive solutions.

• Exceptional communication skills with a demonstrated ability to explain technical concepts to non technical people to facilitate understanding and build buy-in.

• Experience in a hypothesis driven company
• Teradata, Oracle or related enterprise data warehouse technology experience, Ab Initio, Informatica or other data movement technologies, Microstrategy or related ROLAP tools experience, Java J2EE, .NET, or other object oriented development and design experience
• A Bachelors degree in MIS/Computer Science or equivalent experience, a masters a plus but not required
