Director of Content Acquisition, Majors

THE ROLE

The Director, Content Acquisition will own and direct acquisition of Major Studio DVD content for the Netflix service. This position will require creating and maintaining strong relationships within the sales divisions at the studios as well as external service organizations. Reporting to the VP, Content Acquisition, the Director, Content Acquisition role will also be a very cross-functional position working with the site, marketing and finance teams at Netflix. The position has a strong analytical orientation and budget responsibility.


RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage relationships with sales departments at major studios
• Structure, negotiate, and close deals with studios for improved economic terms on DVD purchasing
• Drive margin by negotiating best of class terms, growth incentives, and marketing opportunities
• Track and report progress on a regular basis
• Work with site team on the merchandising of titles on the site
• Continually monitor industry best practices and changes to ensure optimal results

REQUIREMENTS

• Strong Excel, Access, and other management reporting tools is critical
• Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical ability
• Exemplary analysis and problem solving skills at both a strategic and tactical level
• Ability to extract intelligence and behavioral inferences from data
• Excellent communication and inter-personal skills, both externally and internally
• Ability to work with cross-functional teams
• Buying and/or home video experience required
