We're looking for world-class, fun-loving engineers to join our team! Embedded QA (part of Yahoo! Sponsored Search Systems) team is looking for a software development/qa engineer. You will be working on one of many interesting challenges we face currently in terms of improving performance, developing new product features and tools. You will have an opportunity to work on a specific project independently or under the guidance of a mentor in a team environment. Current infrastructure consists of several robust, high performance applications. We process millions of messages and hundreds of gigabytes of data per day as well as replicate large number of files to hundreds of geographically distributed servers worldwide. Developing for this infrastructure presents many technical challenges in the areas of fast updates, reliable communication, message delivery and high-throughput systems. It calls for the application of knowledge of software design principles, systems programming, algorithms, data structures and C/C++ as well as essential scripting. The focus is on building and enhancing scalable systems and modular software; measuring and tuning of system performance and ensuring that the software will run reliably and is fault-tolerant in a 24/7 production environment The candidate should be able to scope and define undefined problems using intuition, common sense, relevant data, strong academic knowledge of Computer Science (algorithms, data structures, etc), and software development experience. Requirements: * BS/MS in CS or other relevant discipline. * Proficiency in Unix/Linux tools and utilities * Understanding of networks and TCP/UDP protocols. * Experience w/ scripting languages (eg. Perl, bash) * Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently * Good understanding of S/W Development Life Cycle * Ability to develop test cases, test tools and test plans from design documents * Good knowledge of relational DB * CGI and C++ programming is a plus Yahoo!
