The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks applications and nominations for the position of Instructional Media and Animation Specialist in Information Technology Services (ITS). The Instructional Media and Animation Specialist reports to the Production and Project Manager for TL Interactive within the Teaching and Learning (TL) division of Information Technology Services (ITS-TL) and is responsible for creation of multimedia files for incorporation into instructional media online products.

As part of the TL Interactive team, the Instructional Media and Animation Specialist works closely with the team’s other specialists to determine, develop, and evaluate customized educational multimedia products for use at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Using a combination of industry standard software and practices, the Specialist works with the team to develop, create, and evaluate the instructional media files and products that meet or exceed client expectations. The Instructional Media and Animation Specialist fulfill the job responsibilities by:

 

· Creating static, animated and interactive content objects as well as participating in the development and maintenance of animation standards

· Develop briefings, brochures, multimedia presentations, Web pages, promotional media products, technical illustrations, and digital artwork for use in products, manuals, literature, newsletters, and presentations.

· Develop multiple creative solutions that meet strategic, creative, and technical objectives for instructional interactive multimedia higher education projects.

· Work with Project Manager and media production team to strategize on product concepts, user interface storyboarding, developing mockups and/or prototypes, creating and following style guides, and staying up-to-date with research on usability and interaction design.

· Ensure projects accurately meet industry, department, and University specifications.

 

The Specialist’s primary duty is the creation of Flash animations, with additional duties including storyboarding, concepting, illustration, graphic design, graphic file management and organization, and audio post-production.

A Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Media Production or related field is required with a Masters and/or relevant professional certification preferred. A minimum of four years of multimedia production or equivalent experience is required. The ideal candidate has a background that includes experience in a creative agency setting, coupled with proven knowledge of industry standards and techniques. Higher education experience is an asset, but not required. Software skills required include, Flash, Illustrator, PhotoShop, Dreamweaver with experience desired in the following:  HTML, XML, CSS.
