Manager, Systems Reliability

Description:This position reports to Director of Systems Engineering at eBay. The Systems Reliability Manager will be responsible for directing a team in designing and developing tools to ensure eBay’s scalable infrastructure is reliable and up to the task of handling ever-increasing load. This role involves working with development teams through the entire software life-cycle. At product design time, you will focus on designing for reliability, working out interfaces with functional code, and designing tools to ensure reliability. During product development and rollout, you will work with Systems development teams on functional code and the tooling to ensure its reliability. You should have a significant amount of technical leadership and a strong background in designing and implementing large-scale, high volume systems. Responsibilities for the team and manager include: Design and implement tools to continuously and automatically evaluate the reliability of systems infrastructure.  Embed team members into Systems development teams to test the tools you develop and to ensure that function smoothly during product development. Help design processes to expose reliability issues early in the development process. Drive improvements to the processes through tools Set goals, measure results, and continue to improve systems Qualifications: Effective leadership skills including technical mentoring, performance evaluation, goal-setting and planning.  Aptitude for driving software development life cycle activities including analysis, design, development, unit and system testing, and production deployment.
