Mgr, Alliance Strategy - San Jose, CA

Position Summary:

Individual is needed to expand the capabilities of AboveNet’s current networks by securing access to more on-net buildings and increase the footprint of AboveNet’s metro networks. The individual will be responsible for identifying, negotiating and administering alliance/partnerships with third party network providers. Position is critical to support AboveNet’s strategy to gain cost-effective access to more buildings and increase the footprint of current metro networks, thereby enhancing AboveNet’s ability to provision cost-effective product offerings.

Responsibilities:

The Strategic Alliance Manager is responsible for creating, managing and expanding AboveNet relationships with organizations that provide access to physical infrastructure that is synergistic to AboveNet. The successful candidate will be responsible for educating strategic alliance partners on the AboveNet value proposition; how the proposed alliance can become synergistic for both parties and assist the AboveNet Operations teams in defining complete “solutions” for our customers.

Primary Duties Include:

•Identifying companies where a strategic alliance will increase short and long term revenue opportunities for AboveNet, Inc. (Utilities, 2nd tier dark fiber providers, CLECs, etc…);

•Develop and execute an implementation strategy for prospective alliance partners;

•Develop, execute and maintain an ongoing interoperability and commercial best practices (carrier class grade standards)/SLAs with each alliance partner;

•Create relationships so that AboveNet sales personnel can engage with the Strategic Appliance Partner sales teams to perform cooperative team selling;

•Negotiating cost-effective access agreements that enable AboveNet to drive new revenue opportunities;

•Responsible for managing vendor accounts, budget compliance, vendor performance tracking and remittance;

•Administer/complete monthly financial /performance metrics to ensure success;

•The individual must comply with departmental and corporate internal controls and all internal controls processes;

•The individual must possess and employ the highest ethical and business standards and always conduct himself/herself with the greatest degree of professional integrity;

•Other duties and responsibilities as required.

Requirements:

•(BBA/BS) Business Administration/Economics/Engineering;

•Minimum of two (2) years in marketing, business development, business analysis, sales, or managing strategic relationships required;

•Candidate must possess a solid knowledge of the telecommunications industry and the challenges faced in the current regulatory environment regarding securing access;

•Successful candidate should also demonstrate experience in negotiating access & distribution agreements with commercial property landlords;

•Ability to quickly learn and understand new products;

•Ability to manage relationships at senior management level;

•Solid background in utilizing forecasting and CRM tools;

•Strong interpersonal and communication (both oral and written) skills are essential;

•Excellent presentation skills;

•Possess exceptional organizational skills and time management;

•Strong financial/contract management/procurement experience is a plus;

•The candidate must be self-motivated, and able to use their own initiative and while understanding the overall goals of the team;

•Drive customer advocacy - totally customer focused; people orientated and deliver exceptional customer service.
