Mid-Level Software Engineer

Job Summary:
The Software Engineer serves as a junior level engineer assigned to develop production software of moderate complexity and diverse scope requiring technical solutions in different areas. In this position, the employee utilizes knowledge and practical experience and exercises judgment in completing assigned tasks in an efficient and timely manner. This position requires analytical and problem solving skills, creativity and self motivation as well as ability to contribute as a team member in a strong team-based environment.



Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Test, Design, and write code for production quality software
- Perform work in accordance with accepted industry standards and guidelines
- Keep technically abreast of trends and advancements within area of specialization, incorporating these improvements where applicable. Attend appropriate technical conferences
- Establish and maintain thorough and accurate documentation of all work. Communicate technical issues within scope of assignment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
- Good knowledge of Java
- Exposure to standard J2EE technologies (JSP, Servlets, JMS, etc.)
- Exposure and experience with Internet technologies and protocols (e.g. HTML, XML, TCP/IP, HTTP, FTP and SMTP)
- Exposure and experience with relational database technologies (SQL, schema design)
- Some exposure to Data modeling desired
- Exposure to and desire to work in, a strong team-based environment
- Exposure to Test Driven Development
- Exposure with any web server (Resin, Apache etc.)
- Exposure to accepted Object Oriented design and coding techniques/principles
- Some exposure to a dynamic scripting language such as Javascript, Ruby, Groovy, PHP or Perl



Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's of Science degree or equivalent in computer science, electrical engineering, or related field is preferred.
