Online Major Account Executive – Worcester Telegram & Gazette

 

The Worcester Telegram & Gazette is seeking an Online Major Account Executive who will be responsible for selling online advertising to major companies throughout the Worcester area DMA and maintaining excellent working relationships with clients, prospects, and advertising agencies.  Website platforms include (but are not limited to) our company web site – telegram.com and major online partners such as Yahoo!.

 

Responsibilities:Meet or exceed assigned monthly revenue goals.Prepare list of prospects from leads in publications, Web sites, previous accounts, etc.Obtain pertinent information concerning prospects' past and current advertising for use in sales presentation.Contact and visit prospects and agencies to demonstrate advantages of advertising online and exhibit prepared samples.Confer with advertisers to determine timing of advertising.  Work with operations to schedule advertising.Present and negotiate advertising packages with client. Prepare and sign client contracts.Prepare or supervise preparation of ad layout for campaign and presents to client for approval.Notify current and potential advertisers of opportunities of interest.Enter new customer data and other sales data for current customers into SalesLogix.Develop and maintain relationships with advertising agencies and prospects.Investigate and resolve customer problems with insertions.Communicate with Online Sales Manager through weekly and monthly reports on sales efforts.Work with appropriate Telegram & Gazette and Boston.com representatives and managers on key accounts.Develop specific knowledge in assigned categories (such as Yahoo!) and act as “expert” for all staff.Ability to present to small or large groups in a consultative manner.Attend trade shows, conferences, and seminars.Keep abreast of industry developments; play leadership role in industry associations and encourage team member involvement.

 

Qualifications:Previous experience in advertising sales in a new media environment is a MUST.College degree needed.Excellent communication, sales, and presentation skills.Proficiency in Excel, Word, SalesLogix or a comparable contact management database system.Must demonstrate ability to operate effectively both independently and in a team environment.Ability to travel to local and suburban clients.
