Programmer
Our Information Technology department is looking for an aggressive and talented ISeries (AS/400) RPG Programmer who also possesses cross-over skills in a PC LAN/WAN environment. This position provides programming support for IBM ISeries (AS/400), Windows Servers in AD environment, includes installations, maintenance and monitoring the operation of the local area network and its associated devices. Evaluates vendor products in hardware, software and telecommunications equipment and recommends purchases consistent with short and long term objectives. Planning, developing, installing, configuring, supporting, and optimizing network hardware, software, and communication links. The individual will also analyze and resolve end user hardware and software computer problems in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end user training where required. This position will report directly to the Director of Information Technology. The individual will work side-by-side with our programming staff and our network administrator to provide the needed support for each area.
Responsibilities:
· Provides ISeries (AS/400) system programming.
· Provides ISeries (AS/400) technical support.
· Work with users to provide support for all hardware, software and network related
· Involvement with multiple local and remote deployments.
· Perform analysis, diagnosis, troubleshooting and resolution of PC and printer problems for local and remote users.
· Manage servers, including e-mail, print and backup servers and their associated operating systems and software.
· Manage security solutions, including firewall, anti-virus, and intrusion detection systems.
· Manage network hardware and equipment, including routers, switches, and UPS’
· Manage installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of end user workstation hardware, software, and peripheral devices.
· Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network development.
· Network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
· Administer and maintain end user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
· Perform system backups and recovery.
QUALIFICATIONS
· 3-5 Years of current experience in LAN/WAN environments, preferred.
· At least 5 Years RPG (III, ILE) programming experience, preferred.
· A.S. /B.S Degree in IT related field, preferred.
· Experience with Microsoft Windows operating systems, administration, design, implementation and deployment.
· Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
· Highly self motivated and directed.
· Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
· Working technical knowledge of network and PC operating systems, including Windows 2000, Windows XP Professional and Windows 9x
· Application support experience with MS Office.
· Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards, including TCP/IP
· Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience.
· Skills in Internetworking with LANs, WANs, Internet, and VPN
