Security/Systems Administrator

Akibia is looking for a Security Administrator to provide security administration services at a critical client in the Lexington area. You will be responsible for designing and documenting security plans for classified systems and networks and then managing and auditing those systems and networks. You should have a solid understanding of Windows and Linux operating systems with a fundamental understanding of best practices in securing, managing, and auditing. Experience and/or desire to work in a research and development organization is imperative. You must be team oriented, have strong communication skills, and must be able to work independently and further the goals of the organization without immediate direction. It is also important to be comfortable dealing with very technical end-users and research leaders.

Responsibilities include: Designing and writing security plans for and overseeing multiple classified material control systems Documenting systems and network configuration in a classified environment Documenting procedures for changing and auditing system and network configurations Helping design and implement configuration management and monitoring of systems and networks Working on special security problems and helping determine impact of security regulations and requirements Providing security guidance in design and control of systems and networks Assisting in configuration and management of network devices such as routers and switches Assisting in configuration and management of Windows and Linux research workstations and servers

Experience and Skills:


Required Experience: Bachelors degree in Business Management, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field 2-4 years experience supporting and troubleshooting Linux workstations and applications in a networked environment with an understanding of kernel configuration and installation Open source software installation (packages and building from source) 2-4 years experience supporting and troubleshooting Windows workstations and applications in a networked environment Experience configuring, managing, and auditing local and/or Domain security policies on Windows workstations and servers Experience installing and configuring Cisco routers and switches Must be able to demonstrate experience or knowledge of configuration management and monitoring systems 1-3 years experience or equivalent knowledge of network and security standards and best practices

Desired Experience: Security administration experience in Intelligence Community or DoD Industrial Security Working knowledge or technical experience with DCID(s) and NISPOM Supplement Experience with Linux security hardening best practices and tools such as: file/directory permissions, ACLs, PAM, iptables, syslog, services, virus protection, and Snare Knowledge of Open Source Security Tools such as Nmap, Nessus, Snort, and Tripwire

Miscellaneous MUST be able to go through the process to receive Security Clearance (SECRET)
