Senior Buyer, Canada Amazon.com is looking for a talented and experienced Sr. Buyer to help the Canada Buying team add additional selection in new categories. The successful candidate will be the business owner for our new categories, with responsibility for driving demand for the category, for creating a best-in-class customer experience, and for ensuring category leadership shopping. This entails driving unit, revenue, and margin growth through effective management and implementation of projects/promotions, maximizing selection, optimizing inventory, and enhancing our customer and site experience. The Senior Buyer is a passionate customer and category advocate within Amazon, with proven analytical capability and project management skills, extreme attention to detail, and the ability to effectively prioritize and multi-task. He or she must be able to develop clear business rationales for new features and services and interact with technology development teams to bring customers ease-of-use and innovation in pet products shopping. The Buyer must be an effective leader and communicator in working with some of Amazon.com's most important partners and vendors, as well as with internal colleagues and groups. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a passion for retail, a high level of flexibility, commitment, and a sense of humor. The ideal candidate possesses superb business judgment and should be driven for continuous process improvement, skilled at forging vendor relationships, planning, and forecasting. He/she is a proven leader who delivers results and can help others drive to results. The position requires an individual who can work autonomously in a highly demanding and often ambiguous environment, with strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills. The candidate must also possess strong analytical acumen and be comfortable generating and evaluating various forecasts, metrics, and analyses. He/she is adept at problem-solving and managing multiple priorities effectively and efficiently. Communication skills (both oral and written) are key. Intermediate knowledge of MS Office (particularly Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) is preferred, as well as an agility to learn web-based software applications and other internally-developed systems. A background in retail or e-commerce is a plus.
