DrJays.com is an integral part of DJ Networks, a bi-coastal company (with headquarters in New York and San Diego) that also owns and operates DJPremium.com, DJ Agency and upcoming social networking site StreetStyle.com.

DrJays.com is a privately held, profitable, stable organization growing exponentially since its creation.

Our buyers purchase merchandise. They plan and select the range, type and quantity of products according to:

 •   customer demand (eg, price, quality and availability);
 •   trends;
 •   budget.

Buyers source new and review existing merchandise to ensure products remain competitive. By fully understanding customer needs, they are able to maximize profits and provide a commercially viable range of merchandise at competitive prices. Keeping up to date with market trends and reacting to changes in demand are key elements of the role.

Our buyers have a considerable amount of responsibility and autonomy in what is often a pressured environment.

» Typical work activities

Typical work activities can vary according to the season, but also because we prize both operational excellence and strategic vision.

Throughout the year, tasks typically involve:

 •  analyzing trends; composing purchase orders
 •  regularly reviewing performance indicators with sales;
 •  managing plans for stock levels, reacting to change in demand and
logistics;
 •  previewing product fashion lines; on-site product merchandizing
 •  maintaining relationships with existing suppliers and sourcing new
suppliers for future products;
 •  liaizing with other departments within the organization to ensure
projects are completed;
 •  attending trade fairs, in the US and abroad, to select and assemble
a new collection of products;
 •  coordinating product and model shoots;
 •  writing reports and sales forecasts, and analyzing sales figures;
 •  training and mentoring junior staff.

 •  A 4-year degree from a leading university
 •  a keen interest in all things digital
 •  extremely numerate
 •  curious
 •  intellectually flexible
 •  ability to cummunicate both oral and in writing
 •  the taste for a challenge
