Senior Operations Analyst

THE ROLE
As a part of the Business Intelligence Organization, the Senior Operations Analyst will combine good overall business knowledge, operations analysis, and keen analytical skills to satisfy the business intelligence needs of our internal Operations organization. Your deep knowledge of quantitative analytics, statistical methods, and process analysis will enable you to provide meaningful insight and inform key business and operations decisions for Netflix.

Communication and Analytical skills are fundamental requirements for success. Use of Business Intelligence or Query tools is also highly important. Preferred tools include SAS, SQL, and Microstrategy skills in an Oracle and Teradata environment. Relevant, alternative BI tools experience will be considered.

Individual will be the business intelligence lead for Operations and responsible for providing any or all of the following support functions:

• Be a quantitative leader in the organization, helping to inform new metrics which drive the business forward in ways that are consistent with the company’s key strategies.
• Detailed analyses of operational processes, supply chain, and logistical processes, using a wide range of data sources and analytic tools.
• Developing an understanding of key customer segments and channels.
• Support of operations initiatives through analytic projects.
• Support of finance and forecasting groups through analytic projects.
• Mining data and providing strategic insights to the organization.
• Identifying opportunities to use data to develop process improvement strategies and improve operational performance.
• Providing technical and analytical advice to business managers.
• Recognizing and managing technical dependencies and/or limitations that impact analytic work.
• Fielding project and analytic requests, triaging, prioritizing, and executing with a sensitivity to the most urgent business needs

Successful execution of these tasks includes the following activities:
• Delivering clear written and oral communication with analyst teams, IT, and internal customer teams.
• Actively question and challenge customers to understand their requirements and reach optimal requirements.
• Manage the work output and professional development of other data analysts.
• Capturing business requirements, needed capabilities, and providing options to the business.
• Successfully implementing process reinvention and improvements impacting own work and work of Operations.
• Negotiate customer priorities and workload with many internal customers and team members.
• Interact with cross-functional teams to deliver projects within committed time frames.

Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years experience working as an operations analyst in a data-driven environment and will also have a strong background designing and executing quantitative solutions, ideally in a consumer-facing business.

Preferred Qualifications
• Track record of uncovering operational inefficiencies and defects that result in breakthrough business insights, process and/or logistical improvements.
• Solid communication skills at all levels within an organization;
• Excellent project management skills; ability to multi-task;
• Strong quantitative, analytic skills
• Energy, enthusiasm and detail orientation to manage and/or produce high-quality data analysis deliverables.
• Responsive, team-oriented personal style for effectiveness with internal clients and colleagues.
• Excellent SQL skills required; comfort getting your own data to inform your analysis.
• Extensive interaction with computer systems and analytical tools supporting data analysis (SAS, SQL).
• BA required; degree in mathematics / quantitative area of study preferred;
• MBA or Masters in Statistics or Analytic discipline preferred.
