Senior Software Engineer (Java Developer)

Position Description:

Fox Interactive Media (FIM), a division of News Corporation and home of MySpace, is seeking a Sr. Java Software Engineer to work on the world largest ad serving and optimization platform. The individual will work closely with the Team Manager on different projects related to ad-serving and optimization. He/she will be challenged by improving performance of the existing code base as well as develop new algorithms to maximize revenue while serving several billions ads a day.Responsibilities:• Design and develop infrastructure components for our next generation, highly scalable, ad serving and optimization platform• Support, enhance and extend the feature set of the ad serving technology• Maintain and improve our proprietary optimization algorithmsRequired Qualifications:• Bachelor or advanced degree in Computer Science• Excellent knowledge of Java 5+ • Excellent OOD & OOP skills• Experience building enterprise scale products• Extensive experience working on Linux• Deep understanding of Multi-Tiered Web applications and scalability challenges• Good knowledge in database design and SQL• Knowledge of HTTP protocol, HTML and JavaScript• Ability to work in a fast paced environment with little supervision• Effective problem solving skillsDesired Qualifications: • Working knowledge of various Web server technologies and frameworks including Apache Tomcat and Spring • Working experience with SVN and Maven• Good knowledge of algorithms and statistical methods• Knowledge of ORM technologies such as Hibernate• Experience with distributed computing (MapReduce, Hadoop)• Experience with SOAP, REST and JSON
