Sports Editor One Year Contract (Spanish Fluent)

Seeking a talented, creative and versatile Sports Editor to work on special projects. The Editor will work closely with the Special Projects Team that is responsible for creating microsites and special coverages for US Hispanics, and Latin American markets. The Editor will be part of the regional editorial team, working to articulate the local markets and the regional perspectives into their daily editorial work.

Candidates should be capable of blending the best of exclusive, original and aggregated content, user-generated content and unique multimedia features to create an engaging experience in multiple media. Candidates should have demonstrated their leadership of content teams operating on a continuous news cycle packaging stories, photos, audio and video from multiple sources. Candidates should enjoy innovating and be comfortable in an environment that blends human editorial judgment with technology solutions that meet the evolving needs of users.

Responsibilities include:

* Analyze user interests, search trends/spikes, and competitive landscape to make programming recommendations to help increase user engagement

*Work on various special projects from conception to execution

* Microsites homepage publishing and maintenance

* Coordinating feature graphics with art and video teams.

* Overseeing automated news feed publishing

* Manually selecting and publishing syndicated news items in microsites

* Writing and proofreading

* Participating in regular testing and QA assignments

* Communicating ongoing product improvements, distributing information promptly, and escalating issues with the appropriate departments

* Manage futures and budget planning. Coordinates the creation of daily features and developing longer-term projects. In charge developing and maintaining the editorial plan and communicating about it with other areas.



Requirements:

* B.A. required, preferably in a journalistic or media field of study.

* 2-3 years of sports news and/or sports online editorial experience

* Strong background in the media and enterteinment industry

* Excellent writing and editing skills in English and Spanish.

* Fundamental understanding of HTML, blog tools, and photo editing software

* Ability to multitask and meet deadlines

* Familiarity with Yahoo! products is a plus

* You must enjoy working in a close team environment. A positive attitude and professional demeanor, along with the flexibility to work in a rapidly changing environment is required.
