SUMMARY:

We are currently seeking a Sr. UNIX Systems Administrator.  This position will report to the Manager of Tier 4 Support. 

 

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 Responsible for the production support of 24X7 mission critical UNIX systems and services.  This INCLUDES on-call support on a rotating basis.Perform the configuration, installation and day to day maintenance of a complex distributed UNIX systems environment.Plan and perform upgrades to current servers and storage environment.Responsibilities include: researching, analyzing, designing, proposing and delivering solutions that are appropriate for the business and technology strategies.Responsible for conception of solutions, building consensus and the selling and execution of such solutions.Interfaces across business units, acting as visionary to proactively assist in defining the direction for future projects.Provides technical direction to junior members of staff and NOC personnel.Actively seeks to empower NOC personnel to perform routine UNIX systems support through the development of comprehensive ‘Method and Procedure’ Documents.Application Support including patches, upgrades, and systems support for troubleshooting of development, testing, and production environments.

 

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  3 years (minimum) experience with Sun Solaris, experience with BSD (on Intel) desirable.8 years progressive experience with UNIX systems administration, Network and Systems Integration.Current knowledge of Solaris 9 required Exposure to Solaris 10 highly desirable.Fundamental understanding of TCP/IP Networks (to ISO Layer 3).3 years experience with JAVA based Web Services running in the context of BEA Weblogic, Sun Applications Server or JBoss.Expertise in automated build methods using Jumpstart and the use of Solaris Flash Archives highly desirable.Strong understanding of enterprise storage solutions; experience with storage solutions from EMC desirable.3 years experience with Enterprise Backup Solutions from Legato or Veritas.3 years experience with HA Implementations using Sun or Veritas Cluster Server.3 years experience with Sun or Veritas Volume Manager.3 years experience with HTTP servers such as Apache and thttpd.Strong scripting skills using SH, KSH; experience with Perl desirable.Experience with LDAP desirable.ISP Experience highly desirable.US Citizenship or Permanent Residency (Green Card) required

 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

 Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science / Engineering discipline or equivalent applicable experience
