You will drive change both in the operations organization and throughout the enterprise.  You are curious, detail oriented, and organized. You have excellent written and verbal communication skills A bit about the job As a System Administrator in Marchex, you will build world class Enterprise Infrastructure and provide pro-active support for a secure, reliable, scalable, and highly available environment.   Some specific tasks:  Establish system procedures, including security, system resource monitoring, system tuning, capacity planning, backup / restore, and the successful transfer of deployments from development and QA environment to production.  Ensure high availability and redundancy of critical system resources including recovery activities in the event of component failure, machine failure or larger disaster situations. Ensure that appropriate runtime capacity and performance levels are managed across the enterprise infrastructure and see that the right technical infrastructure is in place to support business initiatives.  Act as a technical sanity check (when appropriate) for project managers. Actively mentor junior talent to find exciting new areas for them to explore. Be a strong voice in coordinating and prioritizing many competing requirements and external demands for resources and timelines. Drive implementation of your projects, which can involve scripting, procurement, deployment, maintenance, troubleshooting, education, and emergency response. Your Qualifications  BS or MS degree in Computer Science or Engineering or a minimum of 6 years in a technical field. 4+ years experience with large scale system administration, application programming, PC hardware, networking, and datacenter infrastructure. Experience supporting internally developed, customer facing products. Experience in mixed Unix/Windows system administration a plus. Knowledge of Perl programming, Postgres, MySQL, Oracle, and SAN technologies a plus. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and proven ability to work effectively with all organizational levels.
