Telecom/Network Engineer

The Telecom/Network Engineer is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of any systems, network and telecom related tasks/projects.

Responsibilities:

·  Provide end-user support and phone setup/configuration

·  Perform setup, configuration and maintenance of Linux based Asterisk PBX system

·  Support network security and authentication systems

·  Support enterprise systems such as database, e-mail, anti-virus, web infrastructure, patch management, backups, etc.

·  Install, configure and support network/telecom devices, servers and appliances

·  Implement and support network management systems for performance monitoring and analysis, troubleshooting, diagnosis and fault resolution

·  Develop procedures to support and maintain the IT infrastructure

·  Collaborate with other stakeholders to ensure the continuous availability of the IT infrastructure

·  Available to be on-call and ready to support issues at any given moment

 

Qualifications:

·  At least 3 years experience, preferably in a mixed Microsoft/Linux environment implementing and supporting Microsoft Windows 2003 server, XP, IIS (.net), SQL Server, Exchange and Active Directory

·  At least 3 years of telecom/network experience

·  Familiarity with VoIP protocols (SIP, IAX, H.323)

·  Understanding of various voice codec(s) like g711 and 729

·  Understanding of TDM and PRI technologies

·  Ability to understand, design and work with advanced dial plans

·  IVR/ACD design concepts

·  Practical knowledge of Postgresql/MySQL databases

·  Experience running/maintaining call center ACDs/queues and agents

·  Experience running Avaya telecom system

·  Proficiency in Avaya Communication Manager 2.0.x

·  Proficiency in Zeacom Communications Center 3.1.x

·  Proficiency in the use of desktop software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project

·  Proficiency in working with network systems and protocols

·  The ability to administer complex systems

·  The ability to troubleshoot system faults

·  The ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing

·  Skills in planning, organizing resources and establishing priorities

·  Desirable Network Certificates: Any Cisco/Juniper/Foundry certificate

·  Desirable Systems Certificates: MCP or higher, Netapp, Linux

·  Desirable experience: JIRA, Nagios, Cacti
