Tier 3 Support Engineer

This position is located in Bellevue, WA. Responsibilities: • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Demand Media’s Search Service. • Monitor performance (application, systems, network) in real-time • Work with Analytics team to measure actual platform behavior vs. expected behavior • Receive incident escalations from the NOC related to Demand Media’s Search Application and related Infrastructure and assist with identifying root cause and resolution; escalating to appropriate group as needed. • Provide mentorship, knowledge transfer and documentation to the NOC. • Analyze changing traffic patterns in real-time to identify problems and isolate potential sources • Notify and work with development, database management, and network operations to debug problems, identify solutions, and track progress • Track code and configuration changes to understand potential traffic changes • Maintain communication channels with the NOC, IT Management, and the Platform Business Unit to ensure problems are known and understood at appropriate level of detail for each audience Requirements: • Experience with data/analytics tools and applications skills • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills measured by the ability to solve complex technical issues with little or no guidance from more senior staff or management. • Ability to monitor bandwidth use, analyze traffic patterns and volumes, and determine impact and implications of issues. • Ability to define operational procedures, policies, and priorities. • Proven experience with, and deep understanding of, performance tuning. • Expertise with giving monitoring requirements related to supported Infrastructure. • Excellent communications skills – experience working with all levels within an organization • Intermediate or better SQL skills • Must be able to work in an entrepreneurial environment requiring broad experience, adaptability, quick learning and excellent problem solving skills What we Offer: • Competitive Salaries • 2 weeks PTO/vacation, 4 sick days and 4 personal days • Medical, dental, vision, 401(K), and other benefits • Excellent work environment About Us: As traditional media companies are trying to grasp the power of online communities and user-generated content, Demand Media remains a step ahead as it works at lightning speed to redefine the Internet.
