Job Title:    VP of Architecture - USVI-Open Source Software Development




SUMMARY

Responsible for directing the design of new Open Source software products and/or product enhancements through software product development managers by performing the following duties.

 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

- Determines practicality of new software products and/or product enhancements.

- Serves as focal point for other departments on project status or other project information.

- Monitors product development from initiation and planning through completion.

- Works with other executives to plan and establish product goals and development strategies.

- Ensures software projects are completed and properly documented according to product specifications, time lines, and corporate quality standards.

- Collaborates with various programming and product groups within the company to ensure the required features and modifications are included in the appropriate releases to support cross-product features.

- Evaluates new technologies and software products to determine feasibility and desirability of incorporating their capabilities within the company products.

- Keeps informed of status of projects and makes recommendations as necessary.

- Keeps Senior Management informed of department progress and problems.

- Keeps informed of new developments, trends and recommendscomputer operation expansion or replacements based on current and projected activity.

- Other duties that are within education and experience or the incumbent may be assigned for the betterment of the company.

 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

- Experience in a LAMP / Open Source / Web 2.0 environment is required. Must have strong technical background and then strong leader.

- Proven experience in leading architecture design of high transaction web sites.

- Excellent knowledge of the company’s objectives and strategies.

- Highest level of knowledge of software platforms and connections to and usage of Internet system.

- Proven team leadership and management skills.
- Proven record of building high performing teams.

- Proven experience managing multiple vendor relationships.
-   Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
-   Attention to detail.

- Project resource forecasting, hiring and expense estimation skills.
-   Proven track record with hiring and managing outsourced testing activities.

- Proven history of thriving in a fast-paced and often ambiguous environment.




JOB LOCATION :  US Virgin Islands 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

BS/BA degree in Computer Science or related engineering field. Advanced degree desired. Additionally, a minimum of 12 years experience managing Software Design and Development for an Internet Based Company or a company with a large internet presence. Additionally, a minimum of 5 years management experience required.
