Our aggressive growth strategy has created the need for an additional resource for our Telecom Operations Group. We are looking for a Senior Manager, Strategy and Enterprise Architecture.
Job Description : PURPOSE:
To provide leadership in aligning the IS strategy and direction with North American business strategy and direction. This position will develop IS roadmaps for a 3 to 5 year horizon. These road maps will be used to guide yearly budgetary and resource planning efforts as well as to vet business requests for direction and consistency. This position will also have primary responsibility for developing the North American IS enterprise architecture in collaboration with the infrastructure architect and application architect.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Work with business and IS leadership to understand business strategic direction. Based on this understanding synthesize IS strategy that aligns to the business strategy
• Conduct research on technology trends and futures. Present this research to the IS leadership team. Incorporate this research into IS strategic plans
• Develop roadmaps to implement IS strategy on a 1year, 3year, and 5 year horizon. Roadmaps will include definition of capabilities required to meet strategic direction, definition of projects/efforts to deliver capabilities, estimation of resource efforts, costs, and schedule to deliver capabilities, and presentation materials to communicate roadmaps to IS team members and to the business divisions and functions
• Collaborate with portfolio management to incorporate shorter range strategic plans into yearly AOP (budgets) and yearly IS resource allocation/capacity plans
• Develop enterprise architecture incorporating business architecture, organization architecture, application architecture, infrastructure architecture, and security architecture
• Maintain and refine enterprise architecture once developed. Incorporate emerging technologies and emerging business direction as appropriate into the enterprise architecture
• Conduct reviews of strategic roadmaps and enterprise architecture with IS leadership team
• Conduct reviews of strategic roadmaps and enterprise architecture with business leadership
• In collaboration with other architects, evaluate requested business and IS projects/enhancements against strategic plans and enterprise architecture
• In collaboration with other architects, assess acquisitions against strategic plans and enterprise architecture and offer recommendations on how to integrate the acquisition into the environment
• Recommend alternative solutions to the business and IS leadership that meet business needs, but better align to IS strategic plans and enterprise architecture
• Deliver results thru collaboration with and influence of IS leadership team, business leadership, IS architects, and IS management.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
• A bachelor’s degree in business, operations management, information technology or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in various IS positions/disciplines. Diversified experience is a strong plus.
• 1+ year of experience in developing strategic plans
• 1+ year of experience developing IS roadmaps with the following components:
– Definition of needed business and IS capabilities
– Program/project/implementation definitions (to deliver capabilities)
– Macro-schedule at the capability and program/project/ implementation level of detail
– Program/project/implementation effort and cost estimates
• 3+ years of IS and business architecture experience. Enterprise architecture experience a plus
• Ability to develop the “big picture”, think strategically, and convert strategic plans into yearly operational plans
• Strong management, quantitative analysis, organizational, negotiation and communication skills
• Rigorous, structured, process centric approach to all work activities
• Experience collaborating with others in IS management roles to deliver shared results. Ability to achieve results without necessarily having a reporting relationship
• Ability to communicate effectively with leadership in the business and with leadership in IS
• “Buck stops here” mentality in the delivery of all efforts and in the resolution of issues
• Quick learner. Ability and willingness to accept new and different ways of doing things and to accept coaching from manager and other leadership resources. Listen first mentality.
• Results oriented with excellent interpersonal skills
• A motivated self-starter with proven ability to work independently
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as costs, benefits / savings, financial budgets, financial allocations, SLA metrics.
• Masters in Business Administration or other graduate degree a plus
TRAVEL: Ability to travel up to 15% to 20%
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to interface with senior business and IS management and maintain composure in stressful situations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from business leaders and IS team. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to read, interperate and analyze business plans and strategy documents. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret analyst reports (Gartner, AMR, etc), general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as costs, benefits / savings, financial budgets, financial allocations, SLA metrics.
