Web Developer/Software Engineer

POSITION OBJECTIVE

 

CBS Television Stations is looking for an outstanding Web Developer/Software Engineer to join our Digital Media Group to perform development initiatives related to the interactive operations of the CBS owned and operated television stations.  Candidates for this role are experienced web developers with strong experience building web based applications.  Preferred experience include: HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Microsoft ASP.NET.  Pluses include experience with Flash/ActionScript, Flex, content management systems, database design/development.

 POSITION REQUIREMENTS

·  Must have solid understanding of overall web technology and have a comprehensive understanding in the following technical areas:  ASP.NET / C#, HTML, CSS, DHTML.

·  Must have a solid understanding of object oriented design, best practices, naming conventions, developing for high performance, and design patterns.

·  Must have excellent communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a larger team within very strict deadlines.

 

·  Must have solid understanding of Windows based operating systems.

 

·  Follow formal standards in the areas of code design, source code control, software life-cycle management, documentation, implementation,  testing and production release of all software projects related to the environment.

 

·  Must have a solid understanding of relational databases, data modeling, and SQL background preferably with SQL Server.

 COMPETENCIES

·  Communication skills – Excellent oral and written skills. 

·  Business Knowledge – Demonstrate analytical and problem solving skills using knowledge and understanding of basic Internet concepts along with necessary software, databases and programming languages. EDUCATION

College Degree B.S./B.A . preferred.  Equivalent proven technical experience will considered.

 PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE

2-4 years web development of systems in mission-critical computing environment.

 SKILLS

Demonstrable knowledge of best practice software development, QA, Source control, etc…

2-4 years Development Experience or equivalent.

Experience with Web-based technologies HTML, Flash, Director, CSS, Javascript, ASP.NET, C#.
