Jupitermedia currently has an opening for a Windows System Administrator in their Manhattan, NJ or CT office.  This person will be tasked with supporting a large, high-availability, high-traffic Web publishing, e-commerce and database infrastructure operating in several data centers. This includes configuration, build up, maintenance, support and troubleshooting of Windows OS/IIS/MSSQL servers, and respective security, backup, and operational procedures.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Ÿ Install, configure and administer Windows servers – 2000 and 2003 on site and remotely at the data center in Newark, NJ.

Ÿ Install, configure and administer IIS 5.0 and IIS 6.0, as well MSSQL 7, 2000, and 2005 servers

Ÿ Troubleshoot and monitor server performance problems, as well as monitor for intrusion, and real time availability and be able to react quickly to any issues or problems

Ÿ Provide documentation on Windows related projects

Ÿ Perform server updates and upgrades

Ÿ Maintain accurate inventory controls

Ÿ Perform emergency server restores and replacements

Ÿ Receiving, racking and cabling of hardware and servers

Ÿ Support other employees - editors, customer service, etc. - in use of publishing and other applications running on the servers

Ÿ Identify opportunities for introduction of new technology to help the company operate more efficiently or save money.

 

 

Qualifications:

 

Ÿ 3-5 years experience administering Windows systems, preferably in a high-availability, high-traffic Web production environment.

Ÿ Need proficiency in Administering IIS 5.0, 6.0 and MSSQL 7.0, 2000, and 2005

Ÿ 3+ years of experience supporting HP / Compaq or equivalent Intel based servers

Ÿ 2+ years of experience working under Sarbanes Oxley compliance

Ÿ 2-3 years of working knowledge of Microsoft Cluster services

Ÿ Familiarity with network and system security tools

Ÿ Familiarity with ASP/.NET technology is a strong plus

Ÿ Good problem-solving abilities

Ÿ Good communications skills. Able to write reports, business correspondence and procedures. Good customer service skills.

Ÿ Ability to handle simultaneous projects and tasks

Ÿ The ability to quickly diagnose and resolve system issues.

Ÿ Strong diagnostic skills. Perform analysis, implementation and monitoring of Windows 2000-2003 server systems

Ÿ Experience in Systems design and development from business requirements analysis is required.

Ÿ MCSE or MCSA Certification is preferred.
