Benefits Manager

Our client located Downtown Chicago is looking for a Benefits Manager.

In this role, the Benefits Manager will be responsible for: Administration of insurance function for 2000 plus employees. Oversee the administration of welfare benefit programs including enrollment, maintaining contracts and policies and employee communication. Oversee the administration of the retirement savings plan. Develop new programs and streamline processes as appropriate. Will be the primary contact for insurance providers. Ensure compliance of welfare benefit programs with company policy and government reporting requirement including 5500 reports and SARs and SPDs. Manage personnel and operation budgeting and forecasting. Develop and implement policies and procedures for employee benefit plans, and ensure appropriate audit procedures for such plans. Oversee maintenance of employee benefit records. Establish pay structure/modules for insurance programs. Provide communication for insurance programs, both during open enrollment and throughout the year. Manage staff responsible for areas of worker's compensation, Long-term disability and COBRA compliance. Will act as backup HIPAA Compliance Manager.

Qualifications: Bachelors Degree preferred, not required. Must have a minimum of 3-5 years of extensive experience with insurance program administration. CEBS (Certified Employee Benefits Specialist) a plus. Strong knowledge of automated systems, both with third-party vendors as well as HRIS systems as it relates to benefit programs. Strong analytical and numerical ability. Hands on knowledge of Excel and ReportSmith strongly preferred. Must have working knowledge of Department of Labor and IRS regulations. Must be highly analytical and have ability to manage annual projects from planning through to final audit and maintenance of enrollment in plans. Must be able to communicate well in both written and verbal form
