The company provides customers access to 5 billion searchable documents from more than 35,000 legal, news and business sources.Responsibilities This field based sales consultant position supports US Corporate Markets sales through a variety of consultative and revenue generating activities including but not limited to formal product and application presentations to customers, expansion of LexisNexis products and services into new and existing departments of base business accounts and new business prospects, product demonstrations and rollouts to sales personnel, territory planning and strategy and support of specific Business Unit initiatives. Accountabilities: 1. Partner with Account Managers to develop account plans and strategies that will retain and expand revenues in base business accounts. This position will have an assigned list of accounts for which they are responsible on a day to day basis and will be evaluated on the revenue performance of that defined territory. 2. Support accounts outside of their assigned territory. These may include unassigned accounts within their prescribed geography or local departments or offices of accounts assigned to other consultants. 3. Conduct a variety of activities in support of these accounts including but not limited to customer training and presentations, dormant user campaigns, introduction of new products and content, lead generation and meeting follow up. 4. Develop and maintain relationships with decision makers and influencers within their accounts. The result of these relationships should be better utilization of LexisNexis products and services by the customer as well as improved positioning LexisNexis within the account from both a retention and expansion perspective. 5. Generate and track qualified leads provided to Account Managers in base business accounts and Account Executives in prospective accounts. They will conduct product application demonstrations in support of these leads. 6. Educate the sales force on products and services as well as specific vertical markets which they may support. 7. Meet or exceed specified activity goals as established by management. These activities will include appointments, generating leads and promoting incremental revenue. 8. Other duties as assigned.Qualifications 1. Bachelors degree or equivalent experience; JD or Masters degree is desirable 2. 3-5 years of experience in a business environment. Consulting, sales, or training experience is a plus 3. In depth industry knowledge (vertical market expertise is a plus) and the ability to quickly develop an in depth understanding of LN products and services 4. Experience working in a highly complex matrixed corporate environment 5. Strong oral and written communication skills as well as presentation skills 6. Strong time management, organizational and territory management skills 7. Deep understanding of Strategic Selling, Value selling, Team Selling, and CRM systems (Siebel is preferred) 8. Understanding and expertise in computer hardware and software including Windows XP, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and the InternetThis is a home-based position. Preferred location is New York City or Boston.
