Manager, Product Design

The company provides customers access to 5 billion searchable documents from more than 35,000 legal, news and business sources.Responsibilities You will work with marketing, product strategy, product management, product development and customer users to design innovative, industry leading products. You will lead the user experience (UX) vision and design team to drive the product design process from product/feature conceptualization through detailed user interface, process and functional designs, implementation and usability review. For more information, visit www.interaction.com BA/BS or advanced degree preferred in Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, Industrial Design, Cognitive Psychology, or related field or demonstrated comparable experience designing commercial software products. Minimum 5 years experience in design with a minimum of 2 years experience managing a design team in a commercial software product company. Proven experience prioritizing and managing multiple design initiatives simultaneously in a fast-paced and challenging environment. Experience working on large-scale, complex, enterprise applications, including Windows and web-based products. Strong team building skills with proven ability to recruit, mentor and manage a design team. Strong leadership skills including strategic, business analysis and negotiation skills with all levels in the organization. Ability to effectively communicate functional behavior to stakeholders. In-depth knowledge of User Interface Design principles, Human Factors, User-Centered Design Processes, Interaction Design guidelines, Usability Methodologies, industry standards and trends, platform standards, software development process, and prototyping/design. Ability to translate audience, technology and other key product requirements into effective UI design solutions. Knowledge of web technologies such as application and web servers, .NET, etc. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of international and accessibility design considerations.
