Mid-Level Litigation Paralegal

Boies, Schiller & Flexner LLP is currently seeking a mid-level litigation paralegal for their New York City office.  The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of litigation paralegal experience.  Candidates should be available to start as soon as possible.

QUALIFICATIONS

 

A bachelor’s degree is required, while a paralegal certificate is a plus.  Excellent computer skills are required. This includes experience with all Microsoft Office applications, especially Word and Excel.  Experience using Westlaw and Lexis, document management software and the ability to cite check and bluebook is also required.  Excellent organizational, communication, and administrative skills are also required.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Gather, organize, summarize and index documents from various sources for upcoming, pending and potential litigation. Draft correspondence, discovery requests and responses, and other related documents as necessary and assigned. Prepare and maintain trial notebooks and documents to be used at hearings and proceedings. Maintain all initial filings of legal records, briefs and correspondence for the assigned cases. Research law sources by identifying applicable statutes, judicial decisions, and codes. Compose legal abstracts by summarizing depositions, arbitrations, hearings, trials, and other transcripts.

 

This individual will also be responsible for assisting with mentoring and training junior paralegals.

 

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES: May act as an official Notary Public for the Firm. May perform cite checking and/or bluebooking as assigned. Provide various administrative support duties for the attorneys. Work on special projects and project teams for the Firm as assigned. Contribute to team effort to accomplish related results as needed. Other duties that may be assigned.
