Job Description:
The Chicago office is seeking a Partner Financial Services Assistant who will be responsible for assisting in the administration of the Firm’s Partner payroll and Kirkland Foundation processes. In this capacity, the Partnership Accountant will: process monthly Partner payments and quarterly distributions; calculate currency protection payments and ensure accurate deduction of 401K contributions, health insurance premiums, investment partnership capital calls and/or capital loan payments; reconcile Partner payments to the General Ledger; respond to employment verification requests; provide information relating to Partner compensation to the Tax Group as necessary; prepare reports relating to Partner compensation to facilitate the quarterly and fiscal year-end audits; process matching and non-matching Kirkland Foundation gift requests; and assist in the preparation of the monthly financial statements for the Kirkland Foundation. The individual will also assist the Financial Services Coordinator and Treasurer with ad hoc tasks, which may include helping administer the Firm’s bank accounts, process wire transfers, etc.
The ideal candidate will have 2-4 years of relevant accounting experience. Work experience in a law firm or professional services industry is a plus. A Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent work experience preferred. Candidate must have strong accounting, analytical, and communication skills.
