Project Manager - Content Operations

The Thomson Corporation's common shares are listed on the New York and Toronto stock exchanges (NYSE: TOC; TSX: TOC).Description: The Project Manager(PM) works in the Content Operation Project Management Office and is responsible for managing content center capital projects or large scale project initiatives across Content Operations. The PM may manage multiple projects concurrently. The PM is responsible for all project phases, including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, control and closure. The PM is responsible for monitoring the content operations project budget, inclusive of the estimates created during the funding process, the on-going allocation of project resources and the regular reporting of the financials. The PM will work closely with Content Finance and project managers from the Technology PMO. Primary Duties:  Develops and tracks to detailed project plans, including schedules, cost estimates, resource plans, communication plans, risk mitigation plans, change management plans and issue resolution plans. Provides project leadership and conducts regular team status meetings to ensure project deliverables are on schedule and within cost parameters. Provides project decisions and recommendations to management about schedules, prioritization, and resource allocation with input from team members.   Interfaces with all functional & business areas/ groups affected by the project, including senior and/or executive management. Communicates and reports status to executives, and all other stakeholders e.g., Status Reports, Executive Financial Briefings, etc. Monitors and reports on the projects capital budget and expenses to VP’s, Directors, project sponsors. Builds trust, respect and durable agreements with internal and external team members. Contributes to project management methodologies and best practices and provides input into changes and improvements.Qualifications:  5+ years of experience as a project manager on large scale projects Demonstrated experience in creating and leading cross-functional project teams Demonstrated project planning and management skills with working knowledge of project management methodology and software Proven ability to build strong relationships across organizations Strong analytical and problem solving skills Strong written and verbal communication skills at all levels, including presentation and facilitation skills Ability to adjust and set priorities and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment Ability to work independently.
