Job Description:
The Chicago office is seeking a Research Assistant who will be responsible for providing interlibrary loan and document retrieval services to Firm’s attorneys, legal assistants, staff and clients. This position will respond to all requests for: Interlibrary loan (requires identifying holding libraries for item in question and arranging to borrow/return the item for the requester) and Document procurement (requires identifying holding libraries, databases or document services for the item in question and arranging for its duplication). Responsibilities include: maintaining excellent contacts with librarians at other law firms, universities, document delivery services, etc.; supervises library messengers in obtaining or photocopying materials to ensure accuracy and timeliness; evaluates new software, online databases or other resources to assist in their work.
The ideal candidate must be highly organized, very detail-oriented and have excellent communication skills. The position requires a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects under strict deadlines with good humor. A strong customer service orientation and the ability to work as part of a team is also a necessity. The preferred candidate will have previous interlibrary loan experience as well as proficiency with OCLC, FirstSearch, and other bibliographic tools. A college degree is required.
