Landon IP has a long and rich history in the retrieval and analysis of patent and trademark information dating back to 1949.  Landon IP provides a casual and relaxed work environment focused on delighting our customers and continuously exceeding their expectations.  A hands-on training program focuses on developing knowledge and skills while allowing new employees to immediately produce results.  The company prides itself on communication with employees, assisting employees in development of their knowledge and skills, and helping employees identify and create opportunities for growth within the company. The Intellectual Property Researcher’s goal is to provide quality information to patent attorneys in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.  The IP Researcher will assemble, analyze, synthesize and deliver legal information to attorneys and legal administrators that may have been retrieved from paper or electronic sources.   The IP Researcher will be exposed to a number of different research tasks and the position will include a variety of the following responsibilities:

 

•  Initiate and process customer requests received via phone, web, email or fax

•  Ensure that customers receive timely response to their requests for information, including feedback of the status of their requests when orders cannot be filled according to plan

•  Correspond with customers in response to orders for information

•  Coordinate with other staff members to obtain information

•  Obtain copies of US and foreign patents for internal and external customers

•  Develop and maintain contacts within the US and abroad as sources for patent documents

•  Assemble patent file histories for use in litigation or determining the patentability of an invention

•  Conduct online searches of proprietary databases

•  Interface with government personnel at the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) in an effort to resolve clients’ problems that originate at the USPTO

 Job Requirements  §  At least a two (2) year commitment required§  Bachelor’s degree§  Strong writing skills§  Familiar with personal computers, including MS Word and MS Excel§  Strong Internet research skills§  Hard-working, detailed oriented and results-driven§  Excellent interpersonal / communication skills
