Job Description:
The Chicago office is seeking an Information Specialist for the Restructuring Department who will be responsible for the organization and retrieval of information for the Restructuring Department, including the collection, organization and maintenance of the Restructuring Department’s electronic precedent file. As part of the Library Services department, this position will evaluate and implement electronic databases and other research tools specifically for the Restructuring Department. The Information Specialist will also provide research support to Restructuring attorneys, particularly upon the opening of a new matter, by gathering relevant resource materials. The position will provide training to the attorneys and legal staff in all offices in the use of work product retrieval tools and electronic resources.
The ideal candidate will be a dynamic, proactive person with an advanced degree in library or information science, business, law, or the humanities, with an interest in and aptitude for managing precedent collections. Strong technology and project management skills, as well as knowledge of building and maintaining a practice specific taxonomy, are required. Excellent communication skills, a strong customer service orientation, strong technical/computer skills and the ability to work independently, handle multiple tasks and set priorities are all a must. Knowledge of bankruptcy and restructuring bibliography is a plus.
