Job Description:
The Chicago office is seeking a SQL DBA who is responsible for software and applications developed using Microsoft SQL Server. This position is also responsible for system administration functions such as monitoring applications on a daily basis for errors and performance optimization. This position troubleshoots application problems and is responsible for maintenance, operations, documentation, validation, and enhancements of all SQL database applications. This position will consult with Application Integration Specialists, vendors, and end users to identify system requirements, data sources, and data flows between applications.
The ideal candidate will possess a BA/BS in computer science or related field with 8+ years experience in database and system administration, or equivalent experience. Additional requirements include: ability to take ownership of all processes and applications under assigned area of responsibility; ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment; strong organizational skills, attention to detail and communication skills; the ability to effectively respond to all customer inquiries and complaints and the ability to work on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of multiple, complex factors. Must have SQL 2000 & 2005, clustering experience, log shipping, replication, DTS, SSIS, experience writing complex queries and stored procedures. Database migration experience, back-up tuning, production support scripting, performance tuning, PeopleSoft support, DB2/UDB a plus.
