Sr. Voice Engineer

General Functions:

 

Assist in the firm-wide configuration, support and maintenance of Avaya phone system as well as Cisco call manager and unity. In depth understanding of voip, isdn, pstn, pbx, and dialing plans. Candidate should also have basic understanding of networking technologies including Ethernet and tcp/ip as well as possess strong verbal/written communication, and interpersonal skills. Must be available to support a 24x7 environment.

 

Specific Job Duties:

·  Real-world experience with Voice-Over-IP, IP Telephony and IP trunking, including its impact on the network and the end user

·  Experience designing, developing, testing, and implementing telephony solutions

·  Conducts proof-of-concept tests on new technologies and designs

·  Capable of providing effective diagnosis and problem-solving in both autonomous and team-oriented situations, and can transition easily between both environments.

·  Able to communicate effectively with users and other support personel, both on an interpersonal basis, as well as in facilitating effective diagnosis and problem-solving.

·  Able to provide clear, concise, and complete technical support information

·  Possess strong diagnostic, creative thinking, and problem solving skills.

·  Ability to maintain a professional demeanor, and to interact with technical and non-technical staff in diverse troubleshooting situations.

·  Ability to work within defined policies and procedures, as well as provide creative solutions in a manner complimentary to defined policies and procedures.

·  Experienced in the installation, use, and support of Avaya and Cisco phone systems.

 

Qualifications:

 

·  Knowledge and experience with support and maintenance and design of Avaya and Cisco voice systems.

·  B.A. in computer science or significant equivalent experience.

·  Capable of working independently with little supervision.

·  Experience supporting and troubleshooting a diverse range of telephony issues

·  Ability to deal effectively with technical and non-technical staff and firm client personnel.

·  Ability and willingness to learn.

·  Strong verbal and written communications skills.

·  Ability to handle fast paced, high stress situations.

·  Ability to work with others in face-to-face meetings.

·  Ability to work occasional extended hours.

·  Up to 25% travel may be required (domestic and international)
