TELECOMMUNICATIONS SUPPORT & SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR SPECIALIST
KIRKLAND & ELLIS LLP - TELECOM SUPPORT AND SYSTEMS ADMIN SPECIALIST
The person in this newly created position in the New York office reports to the Network Engineering Coordinator and will be responsible for telecom switch and voicemail tasks such as new user, new phone, new Polycom, new voicemail account, moves/adds and changes based on office changes and assignment changes. There are additional responsibilities on the network account creation and deletion side as well. The role also entails assisting the Network and Firmwide Telecommunications Team on various phone-related tasks during maintenance weekends which occur the third Saturday of each month starting at 8:00PM EST/EDT. This position offers tremendous growth opportunities, allowing this person to be a part of a team that moves the Firm to VoIP (Voice over IP) in the next 18-24 months.
This individual must have knowledge of PBX phone systems and voicemail to handle all moves, adds and changes on the phone switch based on new hires, office moves, reassignments, and extension changes. Set up digital phones and analog line’s and handles maintenance. Punch Down cables on 110 blocks, etc. Troubleshoot Line problems and re-punch as appropriate. Primary person to work with carriers on circuit provisioning and maintenance; responsible for troubleshooting matters and being point of contact for carriers and managing /overseeing their on site technicians and responsible for complying with Change Control procedures in doing so. This hire would be a secondary person to assist with Right Fax account setups and troubleshooting. Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft printing is an added plus.
This individual must have knowledge Microsoft Office Operating Systems, including but not limited to, XP and Vista, working knowledge of Microsoft Office software, and knowledge of Lotus Notes messaging, BlackBerry and soft token for remote access.
Strong analytical reasoning and troubleshooting skills are essential. Individual must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills in addition to having a strong commitment to excellence in customer service. The individual best suited for the role will be sharp, highly motivated and organized, able to identify and prioritize the tasks at hand and see them through to completion. Person must be highly dependable and must possess strong interpersonal skills. The ability to adapt to ever-changing and/or ambiguous situations and provide effective solutions while communicating in a clear, concise, yet approachable manner is a must. The ability to be aware of and sensitive to caller’s office location, local time and specific need is crucial.
Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent is required. Two years or more Telecom/Network/User Support or Help Desk experience required. Law firm experience highly preferred.
