Website Developer/IT Support Technician
North Dallas law firm seeks a Website Developer/IT Technician. For website work, this person will need to be able to
ü Create and modify new and existing websites to increase traffic and secure new clients
ü Create and improve content, layout, visual appearance and usability of firm websites
ü Ensure websites are effective in attracting visitors and obtaining new clients and high in search results rankings through knowledge and use of effective techniques including
o Writing content when needed
o Optimizing keywords and using proper meta tags
o Creating proper, i.e., well-formed, clean HTML, ASP, PHP and CSS code and cleaning up improper code; removing negative search engine practices from websites
o Updating and properly formatting all title tags
o Updating/using proper search engine robot commands
o Ensuring that search engine bots are allowed to crawl our sites appropriately and that major bots are not prohibited from indexing our sites
o Using robot.txt files and/or meta tags to control how crawlers index our sites and submitting our sites to relevant search directories
o Creating site maps and submitting these maps to search engines
o Learn advanced website development and design skills to support the firm in its marketing efforts
For IT Tech work, this person will need to
ü Provide primary technical support and customer service to users. Be punctual and in attendance on a regular basis to support staff members
ü Respond to questions from callers and walk-ins; directly and remotely assist users with technology problems in on-site and off-site locations
ü Learn operations of commonly used software, hardware, phones, copiers, fax machines and other equipment as needed
ü Assume responsibility for assisting in the maintenance of the IT infrastructure and help ensure that it is ready for use with minimal downtime
ü Restart frozen computers, stock paper and toner in printers and faxes
ü Assist in the enforcement of IT policies
ü Manage the circulation, inventory and distribution of headsets, manuals and other materials as appropriate
ü Become familiar with available Help Desk resources; stay updated on firm technology changes, problems and issues
ü Become familiar with firm policies, services and staff
ü Direct calls to the IT Administrator as necessary
ü Maintain discipline and decorum in all work areas
ü Handle other duties as assigned by the IT Administrator or other firm staff
The person will need a variety of skills, including
ü The ability to design and create websites
ü Significant knowledge of current web-design trends and search engine optimization techniques; working knowledge of HTML, ASP, PHP and CSS code
ü The ability to research legal topics and create new content
ü Excellent personal computer skills and experience with or working knowledge of administering Windows and Sequel Servers
ü Trouble-shooting, Help Desk knowledge and strong working knowledge of common operating systems and software applications
ü Good problem solving skills and ability to visualize problems and think abstractly and resourcefully in their resolution
ü Ability to provide technical support over the phone; good phone skills, professional demeanor
ü Excellent human relations and communication skills
ü Excellent grammar and proofreading skills
ü Highly motivated, self directed and creative
ü Above average organizational skills and high degree of attention to detail
ü Above average ability to handle pressure and work under deadlines
ü Above average patience and flexibility
ü Friendly presence and helpful attitude; good interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others
