The American Diabetes Association (ADA) is seeking an Associate Director of Direct Response Marketing to join our Development team. This exciting opportunity is available for an individual who is ready to join a nationwide organization with a Mission that affects the lives of approximately 21 million Americans who have diabetes and another 54 million who are at risk for developing the disease. We are looking for a high-energy, passionate and disciplined leader to manage our centralized, targeted residential and renewal programs.

Specific responsibilities include:

* Managing and directing the daily operations of ADA’s centralized residential and renewal donation programs which raise over $35 million in revenue.
* Responsible for developing growth and test strategies that will increase net revenue, and ensure that all annual revenue and ROI goals are achieved.
* Managing and oversees all vendor relations including donation processing, printing services and inbound/outbound telemarketing
* Ensuring that vendors meet contractual commitments.
* Responsible for overall expense budget; must negotiate and maintain vendor contracts and coordinates all state registrations working with ADA’s Financial Services.
* Overseeing all reporting of campaign results and performance to Managing Director, Direct Response Marketing and Financial Services.
* Responsible for all internal and external communications including Income Comparison reports, fundraising updates, Committee updates, etc.
* Managing all database aspects for centralized targeted residential and online giving programs working in conjunction with the Database Manager (ex. analysis, volunteer recruitment, file transfers).
* Responsible for conducting weekly conference calls and monitoring sessions with vendors of respective programs for updates.
* Managing two staff members.

This position is located in our Home Office in Alexandria, VA.


* Bachelor's degree required
* Minimum of 6 years direct marketing experience
* Experience in direct response and telemarketing a must, residential campaigns marketing preferred
* Proficiency with MS Office Suite and donor contact databases (Team Approach preferred)
* Excellent written and oral communication skills required
* Ability to organize, set priorities and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
* Ability to exercise tact and discretion in relationships with staff and vendors
* Ability to travel six times per year to vendor appointments and staff meetings
