The American Diabetes Association is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Associate Manager, Strategic Alliances. The Associate Manager will be responsible for the management and administration of all formalized strategic alliance council activities within Government Affairs and Advocacy including the African American, Hispanic/Latino, and Asian American and Pacific Islander diabetes policy advisory councils. This position will direct and coordinate all activities, meetings, and outcome projects of the councils and be responsible for outreach to potential partners. The position also supports the Associate Director, Policy and Strategic Alliances with research and policy analysis on legislation related to health disparities and diabetes in racial and ethnic populations.

This position will communicate regularly with a variety of audiences, including Association volunteers, federal and state lobbying staff, and community programs staff to increase awareness regarding diabetes-related racial and ethnic health disparities. Additionally, the Associate Manager will serve as the Association representative on a variety of external coalitions.

The ideal candidate will have general knowledge and understanding of racial and ethnic disparities in health, diabetes as it affects racial and ethnic minority communities, cultural sensitivity and competence, and excellent communication and writing skills.

Major duties and responsibilities include:

* Managing the Diabetes Epidemic Action Councils including developing meeting agendas, coordinating meeting logistics, and facilitating/initiating related projects and activities;
* Representing the Association on external coalitions associated with racial and ethnic health disparities; and
* Conducting research and policy analysis on issues related to health disparities and diabetes in racial and ethnic communities.



* Superior oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
* Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in a health-related discipline
* Ability to organize, shift priorities, and manage multiple projects
* Educational/work experience related to minority health issues and disparities desired
