Information Services Specialist

Position Concept:

The ideal candidate will have experience and education in library sciences and information research coupled with outstanding customer support and interpersonal skills. The goals of this position are to support APQC’s general membership with project-based secondary research services and maintain our internal library. There are frequent small research requests where users need specialized information but do not have the time/ability to locate it.

 

This candidate will be expected to drive any research requests or support issues through the entire lifecycle, managing the request through to satisfactory completion and coordinating any interaction between other APQC staff members.

      Responsibilities:

 

§         Execute “quick search” requests from internal/external customers of the APQC.

§         Provide consultative information services and proactive "quick reference" information to internal/external customers.

§         Primary researcher for APQC Information Services department, including conducting detailed discussions of customer’s information needs (reference interview and needs assessment) and coordinating research activities with our Information Services department.

§         Create confirmation/proposal for work and revise/update based on customer feedback as needed

§         Manage workflow of secondary research projects

§         Manage IS contractors (as needed)

§         Management of internal library including database and magazine subscription management, reshelving and labeling



 

Qualifications:

§         Education—Bachelor’s degree required (library sciences preferred)

§         Demonstrated skills in business reference research using electronic resources

§         Proficiency in using Windows PC hardware & software, such as office productivity tools, content management systems

§         Exposure to or experience in a customer service environment

§         Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines with minimal supervision

§         Consistently maintain a high level of professional standards and quality in all aspects of the role

§         Excellent oral and written communication skills
