Information Specialist/Research Assistant

We seek an Information Specialist/ Research Assistant to work within the Customer Services Team of Child Welfare Information Gateway, a Federal clearinghouse service. The team provides information services to professionals and concerned citizens in the fields of child abuse and neglect, child welfare, and adoption.

The Information Specialist/ Research Assistant will employ advanced Web and database searches, provide referrals, and fill customer inquiries in response to written, telephoned, faxed, and emailed requests for information about publications, programs, statistics, legislation, and research. The Information Specialist/Research Assistant also will assist in the development of web content for the Information Gateway website and in the maintenance of information databases.

Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science or related field with two years relevant experience, and the ability to develop reports and employ database or Internet searches required. The Information Specialist/ Research Assistant must demonstrate excellent written and verbal skills, show a commitment to customer service and teamwork and be able to respond promptly and effectively with Federal and State departments, child welfare and adoption professionals, and the general public by telephone and email.

This is an entry-level, full-time position. Candidates available to work a 30-hour week schedule may also be considered. Standard work hours are 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
