Information Technology (IT) Manager

Beacon Partners is currently seeking an experienced Information Technology Manager for our IT department located in Weymouth, MA.

 

The IT Manager is responsible for all state-of-the-art IT systems, contracts, service agreements, and other support activities necessary for ongoing operations and continuous improvement.  The ideal candidate for this position can anticipate and plan for the future needs of a growing company while responding to and dealing with the day to day issues of a remote network. 

 

We are looking for an experienced high-energy, well-organized IT Manager to grow with our exciting company.  This role requires business professionalism, the ability to multi-task and work in a high growth environment and handling of confidential information with the utmost discretion.  This position will interact closely with all levels of management and staff, as well as outside service providers (outsourced IT consultants, hardware/software vendors, etc.).  

 

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Strategic:

· Identify and recommend IT solutions for longer term plans

· Provide management team with guidance and consult on all IT matters

· Develop business continuity plans

· Forward planning for Deltek Vision and SharePoint systems

· Plan hardware and software purchases to support  the business

· Manage outsourced services

· Manage IT leasing programs

 

Technical:

  Networking

· Administration and maintenance of IT infrastructure

· Maintain integrity, stability, and security of the network

· Recommend new hardware and software to meet network demands

· Recommend and follow up on use of computer utilities for stability and performance

· Recommend server usage for domain controllers, network software, development, etc.

· Manage the SSL/VPN connection for remote users

· Ownership of IT activity of internet access with computers (onsite and remote)

 

  Telephony

· Administration and maintenance of the new Cisco VoIP telephone system, including telephone switches

 

Internal Systems

· Administration and maintenance of computer stations and software

· Troubleshooting, systems backups, archiving, and disaster recovery

· Directs the design, implementation and maintenance of systems, programs, hardware and software

· Deploy new hardware and software

· Ensure resolution of all trouble calls/emails

· Application support for SharePoint system

· Assist with management of Deltek Vision system

· Responsible for Storage Area Network architecture and HP Blades

· Support DELL servers

 

Operational:

New Hire Administration

· Creation of network and email accounts, setting up laptops/desktops, and updating company phone lists and email address books

 

Asset Management

· Inventory management of software licenses, software, hardware, and other IT supplies

· Research and recommend appropriate new products/solutions to improve business productivity

· Purchasing of software, hardware and other IT needs as approved by management

· Promotes responsible usage and care of equipment

· Monitor use of unauthorized software

· Ensure conformity with vendor agreements for software and hardware

 

Facilities

· Scope, budget and create implementation plans for IT related investments as a result of office space expansion and/or reconfiguration

· Negotiate with vendors and provide realistic options to assist management decisions

· Work closely with management to implement highest level of physical security solutions

 



 

QUALIFICATIONS:

· The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required

· BA/BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, and/or Information Technology plus ten years of related experience and at least two as Head of IT at a small to medium sized company

· The position requires excellent written and verbal communications skills, as well the ability to meet deadlines

· The ideal candidate will possess a detail-oriented personality, a demonstrable knowledge of IT controls, processes and procedures

· Must be able to work in a fast paced environment and meet varying deadlines, and possess excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility, and the ability to multi-task and work effectively as a member of a team

· Strong project management skills are required

· Proven expertise in managing security, LAN/WAN environments, backup and recovery strategies, and desktop deployment

· Must have current skills; be willing to embrace new technology and implement it quickly and to bring the right solution to the table to move the company forward

· Excellent leadership and management experience

· Experience with ERP

· MCSE strongly preferred

· Experience with Deltek Vision is desired
