Management Consultant - Postal Practice
Our Technology and Management Solutions group is growing and we are currently seeking all levels of Management Consultants with Postal experience in a number of different functional disciplines. Postal administrations and their customers are facing increasing challenges, including electronic alternatives to conventional mail, changes in consumer and business communications practices, increased competition in profitable market segments, demands for improved services at lower costs, changes in government regulation, the need for increased security, and the trend towards privatization. At the same time, postal managers must meet the ongoing challenges of operating a complex retail, mail processing, transportation, and delivery enterprise.
For more than 30 years, ICF International’s Technology and Management Solutions Practice has served the postal industry in meeting these challenges. We have helped the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) and other Posts worldwide to assess, plan, develop, and implement major improvements in their overall business. ICF International provides management consulting and program management support from strategy to post-implementation evaluation.
These positions will be located in Washington, DC metro area, and will be responsible for supporting consulting engagements providing advisory-led and implementation-led services in the area of Postal marketing, sales, service, operations, engineering and IT. Our team works side by side with our clients at the client facility for the vast majority of consulting engagements.
Day-to-day responsibilities include:Deliver project management and program management services to the client Perform research to formulate recommendations. Perform Postal policy analysis Contribute to the development of strategies, policies and best practices through participation in management meetings and other direct contributions. Interface with senior client management and business users to map out and document business and/or IT requirements. Design, interpret, or use complex logical models to guide strategic decisions. Document baseline business processes, systems, information, and technologies. Identify opportunities for organizational improvement and communicate strategies to achieve desired results. Prepare management and technical presentations. Develop and cultivate strong customer relationships. Mentor and provide guidance to junior team members. Prepare and submit status reports.
The ideal candidate will also:Demonstrate a cultural and operational understanding of the USPS and other postal organizations Demonstrate an understanding of the technology and operations associated with postal retail, acceptance, mail processing, transportation, and delivery functions. Be knowledgeable of the Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act Balance the theoretical with reality, proposing effective compromises to satisfy postal business objectives. Have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Have the ability to work collaboratively and cohesively in a team environment. Have strong planning and organizational skills.
Required skills:BA or BS degree -- in marketing, business, economics, operations mgt, engineering, or related field. MBA or other advanced degree preferred U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident with the ability to obtain a security clearance required. Knowledge of Federal contracting and budgeting processes. Experience working for government as a consultant or similar environment Meeting facilitation experience. Developing and cultivating strong customer relationships. Solid computer skills with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio preferred).
Desired skills:Previous Postal consulting experience. Previous "Big Five" consulting experience or experience with other professional services firms.
