Manager Crew Planning & Staffing

- Lead analysts in the development of long term crew staffing plans for training, hiring, and vacation and position awards. - Complete permanent and temporary pilot position awarding on a monthly basis in accordance with the pilot contract. - Optimize crew staffing levels to minimize crew payroll costs while ensuring adequate staffing levels are achieved to support operational reliability goals. - Manage crew annual vacation bidding processes. - Lead staffing analyses and present recommendations to management. Ad hoc analysis (25%)  - Utilize creative problem solving techniques to analyze complex staffing scenarios. - Manage various ad hoc analysis involving aircraft acquisitions/ retirements, changes in training capacity, contract changes, etc. Crew staffing plan development (20%) - Lead development of regular updates of the crew staffing plans for training, hiring, and vacation and position awards. - Manage and develop information flows with other key areas. - Proactively identify actions necessary to minimize crew payroll costs while simultaneously ensuring adequate staffing levels are achieved. Permanent and temporary position awards (20%) - Publish results by contractual deadlines. - Work with fleets and training scheduling to train crew members in the most cost effective manner. - Award permanent and temporary positions in accordance with pilot and fa contracts, including fa base transfers and ccl's. Annual vacation bidding (10%) - Manage vacation bidding process. - Post allocation by position, by week, in accordance with contractual deadlines. - Post allocation by position, by week, in accordance with contractual deadlines - Use crew staffing plans to determine how vacation should be allocated. Crew communications (10%) - Handle questions/requests regarding contractual issues from crew members and union representatives. - Resolve issues in a timely manner - Serve as point of contact for crew member inquires regarding career expectations. - Provide routine updates to crew members regarding staffing forecasts. Employee development (10%) - Create an environment characterized by teamwork, mutual respect, and openness to new ideas. - Clearly communicate job performance requirements. - Provide for the recognition of exceptional work performance. - Promote the personal and professional development of each employee. - Ensure proper training of new personnel. Labor relations information (5%) - Work with contract administration and labor relations to resolve contractual issues. - Serve as a resource in grievance and arbitration proceedings. - Four year degree in Aviation / Business or related field or 8 years related work experience. MBA preferred. - Minimum of one year airline operations experience in an analytical role. - Financial analysis experience preferred. - Previous experience directing the work of others towards achievement of goals and objectives preferred. - Demonstrated analytical, interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills. - Comprehensive knowledge of business analysis techniques. - Experience working with crew staffing and pilot / FA contracts desirable. - Proven leadership skills. - Previous supervisory experience preferred.  - Previous experience working with labor contracts preferred. - Experience presenting analytical findings to senior management preferred. - Limited periodic travel required. - This position manages 5 salaried employees.
