A marine environmental technician is required to support staff and project personnel for marine work including marine biological and sediment sampling and boat handling required for anticipated projects. These projects will require an employee to operate a small (22-foot) research vessel, acquire and record data underwater, identify marine organisms, and conduct sediment sampling. In addition, anticipated project work may require diving to inspect wastewater outfalls and other structures. A technician experienced and qualified for this work is required to support the ENSR senior marine biologist.Also needed is additional support for the ENSR marine biologist in anticipated eelgrass, geoduck, and habitat surveys. Other related duties may be assigned.*Note - this is an on-call, part-time environmental technician position need at this time.QualificationsThe successful candidate must have the skills and experience to qualify as an on-site dive supervisor under the ENSR dive program, and be skilled and experienced in conducting marine biological and sediment sampling and underwater structural inspections. 15-20 yrs relevant experience and minimum high school education required. In addition, the technician must hold HAZWOPER 40 hour certification and be skilled and experienced with contaminated sediment sampling using diver operated and surface deployed equipment. Because anticipated project work will involve habitat, geoduck, and eelgrass surveys and assessments, the technician must have appropriate qualifications, skills, and experience in these areas. The candidate must also be skilled and experienced in conducting marine biological field work and be familiar with marine and aquatic birds and wildlife identification and habitat assessment.The benefits of an ENSR career begin with professional satisfaction and strong growth.
