ICF International, Inc, seeks a mid- to senior-level Instructional Designer to join our Fairfax, VA headquarters. Position requires at least 5+ years experience in the full life cycle of the instructional systems design (ISD) process and 3+ years specifically developing blended learning solutions that are Section 508-compliant and SCORM-conformant.
We have an immediate opening for a candidate who can develop a range of instructional materials, such as classroom-based training, online training and performance support tools, self-paced guides, case studies, job aids, video, and evaluations. Using your mix of creative skills and project awareness, you can create interactive and engaging ways to communicate content knowledge as well as provide feedback on other team members' materials.
You will work as part of an instructional design team under the supervision of a Project Manager or principal instructional designer to develop and document instructor-led, paper-based, and technology-delivered curricula and performance support solutions. You will participate in the development and review of products for adherence to style guidelines, writing standards, course/task flow, and conformance to learning standards including (but not limited to) Shareable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM) up to version 2004 3rd edition. An important requirement is assisting with review of designs and products – web, instructor-led, and RAD-output (e.g., Articulate, Captivate, Presenter) instructional materials – for 508 compliance.
Our projects are developed primarily for Federal clients. Our project portfolio consists of work for 25 federal agencies including work for the Department of the Navy, Federal Aviation Administration, US State Department, EPA, HUD, SEC, FBI, and many others.
Required Skills
Technical and Core Competencies include: Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while demonstrating the initiative to complete projects with minimum supervision; Advanced knowledge of the instructional Systems Design (ISD) process and an ability to foster design innovation; Proficiency with word-processing, spreadsheet and presentation tools (e.g. Microsoft Word, Publisher, Excel, and PowerPoint); Experience and working knowledge of at least one RAD tool (e.g. Articulate, Presenter, Captivate); Experience designing and developing SCORM 2004-conformant content; Detailed knowledge of Section 508 requirements as applied to course development and RAD toolsets.
You must be able to: Present complex information clearly and possess strong oral and written communication skills; Demonstrate strong presentation, facilitation, interpersonal and client interaction skills; Demonstrate the ability to coordinate and work effectively with subject matter experts with a meticulous attention to detail; Demonstrate an ability to act as a technical editor; Be a team player.
You should have: Broad knowledge of the field of human-computer interaction and performance-centered design; Broad knowledge of Knowledge Management and Knowledge Sharing concepts as related to Communities of Practice and the application of social networking and online collaboration tools to learning.
Additional requirements include: BA/BS in education or related field; Masters Degree is a plus.
