Manager - CIO Consulting Services

 

Location - New York City with travel to New Jersey (seeking local candidates)



The level of this position is expected to be either Manager or Senior Manager, with responsibility for generating/managing $750,000 - $1 million per year in revenue, from initial sales pursuit and engagement strategy through the completion of the deliverables.

 

He/she will analyze the strategic and tactical needs of clients and develop and manage deliverable solutions to address those needs.

 

This position will grow, develop, and manage a team of business consultants as well as define consulting projects, arrange work, staff teams, achieve profitability goals, develop personnel and ensure client satisfaction.

 

Managers and Senior Managers typically fill the role of Project Manager or Client Engagement Manager. In some cases, they may be asked to share their experience in the role of Project Team Member.

 

They should be able to plan and guide multiple complex projects and provide thought-leadership. Managers and Senior Managers have deep skills in at least two of the following areas: Management of consulting projects and people in the IT strategy space Business development, selling and promoting IT strategy services, for a professional services firm Subject matter expertise in IT Strategy (or another component of the ITM offering)


Consulting Requirements: Initiate and participate in executive level conversations (senior manager level) Structure work and develop proposals to meet client needs Understanding of sales process from lead generation through close Manage the efforts of consulting teams and client personnel ] Consulting to CIOs or CTOs in the areas of IT Assessment, IT Effectiveness, IT Management: IT Strategy Development; IT Governance (Planning, Budgeting, PMO), IT Business Case Development, Sourcing/Outsourcing, Software Selection, and IT Organizational Assessment and Design

 

The Candidate:

 

The selected person would need to have 7 - 12 years professional experience with at least 4 years recent experience in the consulting industry with a mid-sized or large consulting firm.

 

We are seeking an experienced management consultant capable of delivering ITM services, leading project teams, and developing deep client relationships.

 

This individual would need extensive experience in helping to: win and deliver a wide range of consulting services to large clients in the IT management arena build lasting client relationships lead project teams and recruit superior talent

Additional candidate qualifications would include: Significant and recent Big 4 (or other large or mid-sized consulting firm) experience in a similar, client-facing role is required. A demonstrated track record of successful consulting engagement management experience; including directing other staff members and having an important role in managing and interfacing with senior level client executives. At least four (4) years recent experience in professional services, including a least 18 months recent experience in a management role within a consulting services organization, in/near the city where the role is based. A solid understanding of current business issues and solutions within area of expertise (IT Management, CIO agendas, etc.) 
Ability to establish immediate credibility with clients and within the company; can build consensus and achieve goals through influence versus direct line authority.  Ability to balance the demands of client assignments and staff development while pushing the intellectual envelope in search of solutions to complex problems. Excellent interpersonal/communication skills with professional staff, senior level executives and the community at large. Creative thinking and seeking innovative solutions to complex technical/business problems. Able to achieve goals in a collaborative work environment. Ability and willingness to deliver client engagements in the New York metro area, including New Jersey Bachelor's degree required, with a preference for a degree in computer science, engineering, MIS or a related discipline. MBA or Master's degree preferred.
