Principal Software Design Engineer

Overview:

Innovate in the full life cycle of cutting edge SaaS products. Work closely with management and mentor junior engineers on various sized projects in an agile environment.

Responsibilities:
• Lead design and development for new and complex projects.
• Expert knowledge of software design and development process.
• Produce analysis, design, build, test, deployment, and support artifacts as appropriate to the project.
• Gain complex product functionality and architecture knowledge.
• Increase core knowledge, and broaden skill sets.
• Analyze internal development process and make recommendations for changes.
• Participate in project estimation - feasibility, scale, scope, timeline.
• Organize and lead internal training sessions in product or technological areas.
• Mentor developers, define and promote best practices.
• Participate/Lead in code and design reviews.
• Stay current on industry concepts and contribute to development of company concepts and principles and achieve objectives in creative and effective ways.

Qualifications:
Education, Experience & Training required:
• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or equivalent years of work experience.
• 10+ years software development experience.
• 3+ years in a technology leadership role.
• Ability to pass a background check.

Job Specific Specialized Knowledge & Skills:
• Expert knowledge of software design and development process.
• Expert programming knowledge of Java, .NET, C/C++, JavaScript, HTML, and AJAX.
• Expert SQL experience (Oracle or SQL Server preferred).
• Expert knowledge of OOD, patterns and industry best practices.
• Major competency in multiple computer languages.
• Thorough knowledge of development tools, and platforms (cross-functional areas).
• Broad knowledge of QA processes.
• Broad knowledge of requirements gathering.
• Awareness of business issues and their impact on product development.
• Exercises independent judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining solutions.


• Works on extremely complex problems where analysis requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors.
• Exemplary work habits including thorough unit-testing and knowledge sharing.
• Ability to manage time and deliver quality deliverables on a set schedule.
